What Is HayFun?

HayFun, or hay fun as two words, is the name most people type for Hay, a random video chat that lives at hay.fun and in an Android app called Hay, Live Video Chat and Call. Its homepage pitches it as a way to talk to strangers worldwide and as an Omegle alternative, with text chat, beauty effects and live translation next to the video.

In the web app code we read, nothing starts without an account, and we found no guest entry. You register with a phone number or a social login, and the web app warns that gender and birthday cannot be changed after that. The Start button then pairs you one to one, or in a Squad with a friend, and filters for gender, region and interest tags sit in a Match Preference menu.

Is HayFun safe to use? It has real safety tools: AI ends a match when it sees a rule broken, you can mute someone and then report them, and repeat offenders are banned, some for good. The weak spots are elsewhere. The terms admit that not all content is reviewed, the free tier carries ads, and the online count on the homepage is only partly live, as the next section shows.

Who Operates Hay, and Where Disputes Go

The terms name EXU(HK) Limited as owner and operator of the app and service, with a registered address on Robinson Road in Singapore. On Google Play the developer is listed as TURNED E PTE. LTD., also in Singapore, under the team name Three Team.

Disputes go to binding arbitration under Singapore law, and users give up class actions. You can opt out of arbitration, but only in writing within 30 days of first becoming bound by it. The privacy policy also lists countries where Hay does not offer the service, among them Russia, Belarus and Iran.

How Busy Is HayFun? Reading the Online Number

The homepage number cannot tell you how busy HayFun is. In the web app's code we read, a visitor who has not signed in sees a starting figure the browser picks at random between 10,000 and 50,000. After you sign in, the code reads an online number from Hay's server once, then a timer in your browser adds 1 to 50 or takes away 1 to 30 every three seconds.

None of this proves the service is quiet, and matches may still come quickly. What the moving number does not show is how many people are online at this moment, so it is better not to read it as a measure of traffic.

The same homepage makes other promises you cannot check from outside, such as a platform free from bots and five quoted reviews labelled only Strangers one to five. None of that makes Hay a bad place to chat. It simply means the homepage cannot settle the question, and the real test is how quickly your own matches arrive.

Why People Look for an Alternative to HayFun

What HayFun Collects and Shares

Hay logs your IP address and device details, including the advertising identifier and your mobile number, and may collect your location, precisely by GPS if you allow it. It also records how you use the service: who you talk to, when, how many messages you swap and even when you take a screenshot.

The privacy policy says other users may capture your photos and videos, and that Hay or third party services can store and use them for moderation and safety checks. Profile details and content you create may be made available to other Hay users. Advertising partners may use tracking tools to show you targeted ads on other sites.

Leaving is done from the account itself. On the website you type a confirmation and get a deletion date; in the app the path is Me, then Settings, About Hay and Delete Account. Hay says it removes your data with reasonable effort but may keep some records the law requires, and backups for a limited time.

Some of this is reassuring. Its Google Play listing says no data is shared with third parties, that data is encrypted in transit and that you can ask for deletion. Access to user data is limited to staff and providers who need it, and you can switch off third party sharing in the product settings or by writing to Hay.
