Who Is in the Queue

Everyone waiting to be matched passes a real-user check before they enter the queue, so the face that loads is a person who is there at that moment rather than a recording or a profile you message and wait on.

People connect from more than 100 countries, so the pool is never quite the same twice. Every match is still one to one, whatever the hour: evenings in Europe and the Americas are the busiest stretch, and a weekday afternoon is quieter than a Friday night.

Language follows from that. The first voice you hear may not be speaking what you expect, and most calls settle into English within a sentence or two. A short greeting in your own language is a quick way to find out where your match is calling from.

What You Control and What You Do Not

Control on a random queue is real, and it is narrower than most pages admit. You decide when to join, how long to stay, when to leave, and whether the person in front of you keeps your attention. Who appears is decided by neither of you.

A filter narrows the pool you are drawn from. It does not reach into that pool and pick a person out for you. The gender filter is the clearest case: it runs on coins, a new account comes with 125 free ones, and while it is on it reduces the range of people the queue can hand you. It never guarantees who turns up next.

Pool size matters more than the filter does. Narrowing a busy queue still leaves plenty of people in it. Narrowing a thin one in the middle of the night can leave you waiting for a match that a wider setting would have found immediately.

The exit is entirely yours. Any call can be ended by either side at any moment, with no explanation owed in either direction. Knowing that in advance changes how a poor opening feels, because you are never stuck inside one.

One kind of control does not exist here, and it is worth being suspicious of anywhere: a promise about who you will meet. Nobody can make that promise about a queue of people who are each deciding for themselves, second by second, whether to stay.

The same limits apply to the person facing you. They did not pick you, they can leave as freely as you can, and nothing they paid for changes either of those. Both of you are working with the same set of controls, which is a fairer arrangement than it first sounds.

What Is Free and What Is Paid

Starting costs nothing. Opening the page, allowing your camera, joining the queue, being matched and talking for as long as both of you want are all free, and none of it asks for a card.

The paid side is narrow. An account credits you 125 free coins, and coins pay for one feature only, the gender filter. Once the free coins are spent, the filter is paid.

A zero balance changes nothing about the conversation. Coins are never spent on talking, on skipping or on time, so a call does not get shorter and a match does not stop happening because a balance ran out.

It Runs in Your Browser

The call opens in the browser you already have open, on a phone, a tablet or a computer. There is nothing to install before your first video chat and no store page standing in the way.

An Android app exists as well, and it is a shortcut rather than a requirement. It puts an icon on your home screen and uses the same queue and the same camera permission the browser does. Nothing appears in the app that is missing from the page.
