What Is Chamet?

Chamet is a video call app that sells itself as 1v1 video chat: paid calls with hosts, next to live streams, party rooms for up to five people and a feed of posts. It has been on Google Play since November 2019, lists more than 50 million downloads there and is run by Fuliao Hong Kong Limited.

Nothing starts without an account, created through one of three sign in options, and some features also want a face check. The Match button then pairs you with available hosts by language and region, and that region comes from your IP address and phone number, so you cannot set it yourself. A web version runs in phone and desktop browsers on the same login.

Is Chamet safe? Its safety basics are solid: people pass a real person check, AI ends a call the moment it spots rule breaking, a report takes a few taps and its safety page tells you to refuse any request for money. The weaker side is cost and data. Minutes past the trial are billed at each host's rate, and photos other users capture of you in the app may be shared with third party services unless you switch that off.

Who Runs Chamet, and Who Answers the Call

The terms name Fuliao Hong Kong Limited as owner and operator, with its office listed in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Disputes go to arbitration in Hong Kong under Hong Kong law, while the privacy policy says personal data is processed in Singapore, among other places. The website footer, by contrast, credits Chamet Inc.

The other side of a call is a host who is paid for your time. Hosts earn Beans from call minutes at the price shown on their account and from gifts, and can withdraw once they reach US$10. No application or experience is needed to start hosting, and video calls unlock as a new account levels up.

Is Chamet Free? What Comes After 90 Seconds

It is free to start, not to keep talking. A trial card gives you one random call of about 90 seconds, and if you carry on, Chamet deducts diamonds at the host's own price per minute. No single rate is published, because hosts set and adjust their prices, and the cost of diamonds themselves follows your location.

Diamonds are bought through the app stores or Chamet's web portal, which its help centre recommends for the best rates. Your currency follows your IP address, or your Google Play country setting if you pay through Google Play. For men, account levels climb with how much they recharge or spend, and privileges pause when the balance drops to about 2,000 diamonds.

Some of this is fair. Browsing, live streams and joining party rooms cost nothing, although gifts and extra minutes do. New accounts get welcome coins and daily tasks, and 10% of what you spend comes back after 30 days if you claim it. A call that fails through a system error usually has its diamonds returned, and a subscription is never needed to use the app.

What Chamet Collects and Shares

Chamet logs your IP address and device details, and keeps what you give it: your name, email, gender and the photos, screenshots and messages you create in the app. Its privacy policy adds that other users can take photos of you with Chamet's capture feature, and those photos can be stored and used for Chamet and third party services unless you change a sharing setting.

Sharing goes further than most people expect. Cookies, device identifiers and location data can go to companies in the same group and to service providers, and anonymous totals go to advertisers and investors. The Play listing says photos, videos and app information may be shared with third parties. If someone reports you, parts of the conversation saved on their phone may be sent to Chamet.

Leaving takes a few steps. You delete the account in the settings, then have 14 days to log back in and undo it, after which it is gone for good. The face you verified cannot be used on a new account for 90 days, and the privacy policy says your data is then deleted or anonymised as the law requires.

There are real protections too. Card details go straight to a payment provider and are not stored by Chamet, data is encrypted in transit according to its Play listing, and the help centre says calls are end to end encrypted. You can hide your location, switch off third party photo sharing in the settings and ask by email for your data to be deleted.
