What Is Ayar?

Ayar, often searched as Ayar chat, is a random video chat app, listed on Google Play as Ayar‑Chat&Play, that pairs you with a stranger for a 1v1 video chat in about two seconds, by its own count. Next to the random matches it keeps profiles you can call directly, text chat with built in translation and virtual gifts, and it also runs in a browser at ayar.chat.

The Android app has passed ten million downloads and sells tokens through in-app purchases. Its store page promises real people with no bots, a choice of region and profiles with checked photos, plus a beauty camera that switches itself on. You sign in with a Google or Facebook account or an email address, and new accounts collect a set of starter tickets.

Is Ayar safe to use? Its store page says the app prohibits video recording and screenshots, profiles carry Report and Block buttons, and the terms describe automated checks backed by human moderators, with a zero tolerance policy on harm to minors. The same terms also admit that the company cannot promise its moderation is accurate, complete or quick.

Who Runs Ayar, and Why It Is Not Azar

Google Play names INTELVISOR CO., LTD., with an address in Tokyo, as the developer, and support runs through an ayarlive.com email address. The web terms add an office in Sha Tin, Hong Kong, place the agreement under Hong Kong law and send any dispute to arbitration at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.

One letter separates Ayar from Azar, the app made by Hyperconnect, and the two are unrelated; our Azar alternative page covers that app on its own. A third name, AyarChat, belongs to a voice first site whose own FAQ says it is unrelated to the Ayar app. The cards below set the three side by side.

Is Ayar Free? Tickets, Tokens and VIP

Only in short bursts. Signing up brings six free matches and a week of new user gifts, but a match ticket covers 20 seconds of video, and after the free stretch the call screen switches to a token price per minute. Starting a new match can cost tokens too, shown as a fixed amount each time.

Tokens are bought in packages inside the app, through Google Play, card payments or other channels, and the price appears at checkout in the currency shown there. A VIP option sits on top and hands out free match tickets, and the terms note that subscriptions bought in the app keep charging until you cancel them.

Some of those tokens end up as gifts. Ayar lets you send virtual gifts to streamers and other members, and the terms let people who receive gifts collect credits and withdraw them, so some of the people you meet earn from the time you spend on a call.

Why People Look Past Ayar

Taken together, Ayar is easy to try and quick to charge, because almost every longer call draws on a token balance. That balance sits on an account that holds quite a lot about you, which the next section looks at.

What Ayar Collects From You

Registration asks for your date of birth, a phone number or social login, a password, a user name and your language. A profile can then hold an alias, photos, gender, hometown, a short introduction, social media details, education and career.

The device side goes further. The privacy policy lists your IP address, mobile carrier, IMEI and IMSI numbers, MAC address, advertising identifier and location drawn from your SIM card, plus GPS position and your contacts once you allow them.

Your face is part of it as well. Beauty effects use facial data that the policy says is processed offline and never used for advertising, and the photo check compares your profile picture with a short face recognition video that Ayar says it does not keep.

The policy gives you a way out. Data is kept for as long as the account exists, you can request deletion from Me, Settings, Account, Delete Account, the web app removes an account seven days after the request, and some records stay where tax or legal rules require them.

Apps and Sites Like Ayar

The closest Ayar alternatives either charge for time on camera or keep calls free.
