What Is Tinychat?

Tinychat, also written tiny chat, is a free random video chat site that puts you on camera with one stranger at a time. The name is older than the site: from 2009 to December 2024 it belonged to a live video chat network of public rooms, owned by Paltalk from 2014. The current site opened in spring 2025 and shares only the name.

It is run by Eastwood Media B.V. of Breda in the Netherlands, and its own terms describe it as a review and affiliate website. The chat window on its home page belongs to CooMeet, loaded through a partner embed. To start, you pick your gender and allow your camera, with no sign-up form.

Is Tinychat safe? Safe enough for a casual chat, with one caveat: it is less private than its home page suggests. Its rules ban harassment, hate speech and advertising, the service is not open to minors, and several complaints against one user trigger an automatic block. Yet the site admits it cannot watch every chat in real time, and the CooMeet agreement behind the chat window allows recording.

If You Came Looking for the Old Tinychat Rooms

They are gone, and nothing from them moved to the new site. In October 2024 the old Tinychat still sold Pro, Extreme and Gold plans at 9.95, 14.95 and 44.95 USD a month, billed annually, for unlimited video in your room and priority in the room directory. By December the same page said subscriptions were not being sold.

The closing notice thanked members for 15 years and sent them to Paltalk, the parent company's main service. In November 2024 Paltalk also agreed to sell Paltalk and Camfrog to Meteor Mobile Holdings, so the room networks closest to the old Tinychat were changing hands as well.

Who Runs Tinychat Now and Who Bills You

Tinychat is now an affiliate site, and both the chat and the billing behind it belong to CooMeet. Eastwood Media B.V. runs tinychat.com and may earn commissions, while the chat window, Premium and every payment run through CooMeet, whose agreement names Gartwell Limited of Belize and covers its widgets on other websites.

Starting costs nothing. Tinychat's own FAQ says one-on-one random chat is free and that a premium membership lets you choose your partner's country or gender. That membership renews on the billing cycle you pick until you cancel it, and cancelling means going to CooMeet's support page and entering your payment details. Diamonds packages are sold as one-time purchases.

Tinychat lists no prices on its own pages, and its refund page says it cannot explain or change the offers. CooMeet's agreement does list them: a three-day trial for 2.97 USD, one month for 9.99 USD, and longer plans at 7.99 or 4.99 USD a month, with extra minutes at 0.50 USD each. The figure shown at checkout is the one that counts.

The two companies also describe your account differently. Tinychat's contact page says it keeps no permanent accounts, so there is nothing to delete. CooMeet's agreement describes Man and Girl accounts, a photo taken automatically at sign-up to serve as your avatar, and data kept for years after deletion. Read both before you pay.

Why People Look for an Alternative to Tinychat

Most people looking for an alternative to Tinychat arrive from one of two directions. Some used the old rooms and found them closed in December 2024. Others tried the new site and found a subscription and a second company between them and their money. Each point below comes from the documents the two companies publish, not from one angry review.

Recording, Bans and What Tinychat Keeps

CooMeet's agreement lets it record the chat process for rule checks, including saved messages, audio and screenshots of video, and it may decline to give you copies. It also uses automatic face recognition to block accounts. Its privacy policy says the random screenshots are overwritten continuously and kept for 90 days.

Blocks come fast and stay put. Tinychat's rules say several complaints trigger an automatic block, and its contact page calls a moderation block final. Under CooMeet's agreement, ban lengths are set by the company, a permanent ban ends the membership, and funds in the account can be withheld when the terms are broken.

The two privacy policies do not match. Tinychat's says it holds no message history and cannot tell who you spoke with, keeping a camera frame only while a ban lasts. CooMeet's deletes registration and communication data five years after you delete the account, and analytics data after 30 days.

One point is in Tinychat's favour. Its privacy policy explains that the connection runs directly between the two computers, so your IP address reaches the other device but is not shown in the interface. The site is hosted in Germany and the United States, while CooMeet says it stores data mainly in the European Economic Area.
